The Loyales

New York cover band The Loyales, is the kind of good time dance band they don’t make anymore. Championing juke joint, rootsy dance music, this band joyfully rolls out song after song by classic soul and roots artists.  It’s like having a live band playing through an old juke box’s 45′s.The Loyales have played multiple events for Daily Candy, the NYC Food & Wine Fest, and backed Chef Tom Colicchio of Top Chef on Martha Stewart’s radio show, as well as for the opening of one of Tom’s venues in NYC.

Milton himself has played with Norah Jones, Al Kooper, Joan Osborne, James Hunter, Shelby Lynne, & Steve Earle.  He also wrote the score for an HBO movie.

Julia can often be heard singing songs for the show 30 Rock. She won an Independent music award for best female vocalist and she’s sung harmony with Michael MacDonald.

Keyboardist Bennett is one of New York City’s most creative and versatile musicians. He has performed original music at clubs, concerts and festivals in the United States, the Caribbean, and throughout Europe.  He has been a featured performer with jazz stars Kurt Elling, Brian Lynch, Peter Bernstein, Rufus Reid, Bill Stewart, Billy Hart, Albert “Tootie” Heath, Ndugu Chancler,  Cassandra Wilson, Miri Ben-Ari and Yosvany Terry among others.

Drummer Ben’s music is on “Wedding Crashers”, “The OC” “Fast Food Nation” among other movies and TV shows.

Sami has won numerous prizes from international film festivals for his film scoring work.

Martin went to Oxford.  He’s as steeped in bluegrass mandolin as he is in electric funk guitar.

The Loyales played at my 50th birthday party in December, 2009, for about 80 people, in a private room at a nice bar/restaurant.  I cannot say enough about how successful the event was, thanks to The Loyales.  Almost the entire room was dancing for three straight hours — no exaggeration! They pleaded with the band not to leave the stage for any breaks! I received so many compliments afterwards from people who had never seen Milton before asking where I had found such a great band and how excellent they were. Of course I knew that would be the case, since I was personally already a fan. Milton is a pleasure to work with, learned a few new tunes at our request, and presents a quality of musicianship (and fun) that is unparalleled.  He made many new fans that night who have subsequently come to his gigs around town.  Trust me, if you like excellent music in the country-rock style, with a bit of honky-tonk and a nice dose of New Orleans soul in the mix, you will be thrilled to have The Loyales play your party.
